Overview
For this project, we were to create an ad for Tandell's travel agency. There were certain specifications, but for the most part, we had a lot of creative freedom. All of the visuals and copy are to be completely original. The final output is black and white so that needed to be considered as well.

Research & Brainstorming
I ended up gravitating to a lot of travel-themed posters for my research and brainstorming, but what I was really looking for was how different icons and lists were treated in the type and layout. I was nervous about the travel theme, not wanting to go too on the nose, so the brain map was helpful for that.
Copy Ideas
At this point I typed up a bunch of different headlines, subheads, title, and description ideas. I felt pretty proud of the creativity I used for the writing, even though I don't feel like it's my strength.
Sketches & Doodles
I didn't have a ton of sketches and doodles this time, but I had some strong visions for what I wanted to do, so I moved on to the next step at this point.

Final Hand
I'm posting both the before and after markers because evidently I'm still very bad at marker comps. But it was helpful to see the level of tints I could use. At this point, I'm feeling like I've solved a lot of design problems and I'm ready to move on to the digital stage.
B&W Computer Progressions
I actually love this stage. I have incorporated this step into my personal design process because it is so helpful to physically print, markup, and see the design through each progression. Then you take all the progressions and step back and get an overall look. You can ask yourself if you are going backward or forward. Occasionally you have things from an earlier progression that you liked better and you can add back into the design.
For this project, I felt my thumbnails were decently tight, so I didn't have to make any major adjustments, but changing the boxes to lining up, centering digitally vs. centering visually, and placing my headline, were some of the changes I needed to make.
